Preguntas Frecuentes

What is the Cultural Uruguay Portal (“Portal Uruguay Cultural)?

Portal Uruguay Cultural is an online magazine about Uruguayan cultural products that brings together in a single website all articles about work pieces, creators, institutions, organizations and events that constitute Uruguay’s cultural heritage.

What is the purpose of Portal Uruguay Cultural?

To generate a virtual support for the brand Uruguay Cultural, to make public and find a position for the artistic and cultural opportunities available, at both the local and international levels, and to contribute to the creation of an image of Uruguay as a creative, innovative, and culturally dynamic country. The creation of Portal Uruguay Cultural implies the enhancement of an image that, just like Uruguay Natural, accompanies the promotion of “cultural tourism”.

Who is in charge of generating the site’s contents?

Articles in Portal Uruguay Cultural will originate in an editorial team of specialized professionals from the various fields of cultural creation, and are meant to cover all of Uruguay’s cultural production, both past and present, by focusing particularly on not only creators who live and work in the city of Montevideo and in the different Departments of Uruguay, but also on Uruguayan creators living and working abroad. The editorial team will also generate contents to be attractive and relevant for children, young people and adults. Contributions in this sense will all be welcome.

How can I be part of it?

The process for contributing to the portal is not automatic. Contributions must first be assessed by the corresponding area coordinator within the National Culture Office and the editor y charge of that area. When articles are suitable for publication, they are reviewed by the editor responsible who will be in charge of revising style and composition aspects. Once the collaborator approves the corrections made the material is ready to be published. Contents published must comply with the quality standards established by the National Culture Office, and must be submitted along with the form “formulario Colaborando” that may be downloaded from here.

What are the quality standards required?

Improper, offensive and/or discriminatory language will not be allowed. The Ministry of Education and Culture reserves its right to NOT publishing contents that are wrongfully intended or that might affect the rights of third parties. All contents published must directly relate to the editorial line established by the National Culture Office and the portal’s editorial board. Also, all contents must consider suggestions made in the Style Manual available here.

Why should I fill out a form to participate?

The form enables us to quickly process the information in an objective manner. Data you send on the form will be considered confidential and are a way of getting to know our collaborators better.

Can I inform the dates of my concerts, exhibits, etc?

Portal Uruguay Cultural is not a schedule of events. If you want to advertise an event we suggest any of the cultural agendas online (see our Links section). The schedule is intended for showing historical dates and important festivities at the national level. If you know of any event that should be included in our schedule, please inform us by filling out the form “formulario Calendario” that you can download from here.

Can I suggest articles, subjects, work pieces, artists, etc?

All suggestions will be welcome. The objective of this publication is to grow and become a reflection of Uruguayan cultural creations both past and present.
